Steve Madden: the Company and Summer line

14 May

Steve Madden is easily one of the top shoe designers of the 21st century. Named “Company of the Year” in 2006, Steve Madden is constantly expanding his company to sell dresses, accessories, ect. But this company always had a strong focus on one thing – shoes.

According to Steve Madden, “I get my ideas and inspiration from pounding the pavement all over the world.” Steve Madden transformed the platform shoe, seen on celebs on the streets of New York and L.A. Rock and roll stars of the 1970’s influenced him to create the thick, chunky heel. Today he says that people walking on the streets of London to New York inspire him for new designs.

This summer season you will be seeing a lot of prints and colors from Steve Madden’s collection. He especially uses a lot of cheetah print. My favorite is the KIMMMIE flat. It combines the leopard print and studs well – 2 styles that are trending this season.

Another favorite is the STANNDUP wedge. The coral color can be easily matched with an ivory colored outfit to give off a summery feel. The extra ankle strap on the shoe also gives support to your feet.

Steve Madden’s shoes will definitely help you define your individuality through style. His shoe line ranges from a number of different styles, colors and prints. This summer you should get yourself a pair of Steve Madden shoes to help enhance your outfit. You can also find Steve Madden shoes at cheaper price at DSW or Marshalls.

2012 Kid’s Choice Awards: Trends to Look Out For

4 Apr

The 2012 Kid’s Choice Awards brought new trends to try out for the summertime. The orange carpet was filled with stylish teens. But not only were there kids, there were adults, embracing their inner child. Celebs wore outfits that can be incorporated into your everyday style.

Crop Tops:

The KCA’s brought crop tops to the orange carpet. Selena Gomez had a pink crop top matched with a Dolce & Gabbana champagne skirt. You don’t always have to keep within the same color scheme. Mix up a yellow crop top and cobalt blue skirt. But don’t just wear these tops with skirts, pair them with printed shorts or a colored pants. This look is perfect for summer.

Cobalt Blue Hue:

What did Miranda Cosgrove, Elizabeth Giles and Kristen Stewart have in common? They rocked the darker blue color on the orange carpet. This color is so versatile for day and night outfits. Depending on what you want to wear, I suggest that you invest in a pair of cobalt blue pants. This can be match with nudes, whites, yellows, and black shirts or shoes. This is also another option if you’re getting bored with the regular navy blue jeans.

Coral Hue:

Madison Pettis wore a coral dress matched with coral shoes. The coral color is a great color to have in your closet. It really captures the essence of summer. It’s eye-catching but not too overbearing. Victoria Justice also rocked the coral look with a matching blazer and shorts. The coral blazer is a great clothing article to have. You can still look professional with color. But if accessories are more your thing, grab some coral jewelry – preferably a necklace. Choose a big flashy necklace. Why go unnoticed, right?

This year’s Kids Choice Awards embraced new spring trends for young adults – especially young women. These trends are a perfect way to enhance your style and fill up your closet with colorful clothes. Embrace these trends with confidence. Confidence is always key.

Tory Burch: the Designer

28 Mar

Tory Burch is hitting the fashion industry by storm. Her line, Tory Burch, launched in 2004 and quickly got noticed. Oprah endorsed her label the next year. Cameron Diaz, Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Lopez wear her label. But this wasn’t the designer’s first time in the fashion industry. She worked for Vera Wang, worked at Harper’s Bazaar, and was a copywriter for Polo Ralph Lauren previously.

Tory Burch can be described as “preppy boho.” Her label includes a T logo medallion (left) on most products. Growing up, Tory was described as a tomboy and her clothing also gives a preppy tomboy look. She says, “Spring 2012 is inspired by Deauville in the Twenties — sporty and polished with an emphasis on special details.” Tory Burch is versatile to the everyday woman, ranging from simple T-shirts to sophisticated blouses.  However the prices range $100-$400.

Tory Burch flats are noticed instantly because of the T medallion. The shoes come in a variety of colors, ranging from hot pink to black. These flats are simple that add a sophisticated look to an outfit. Loafers are new this season. Burch adds colorful prints to the loafers to help them stand out. She even gives you ideas on how to style them (here). Burch came out with a Beverly heel which is pointed and has a bow on the side. This shoe adds a feminine touch to an outfit. It comes in different prints and colors to make the shoe pop.  Heels, wedges, sandals and flip flops are also her specialty.

Burch not only does fashion, but she does her part in humanities. She has her foundation, Tory Burch Foundation, which provides economic help to women and their families. The non-profit foundation empowers women with financial tools in order to succeed. They provide loans to women who are in need. At age 45, Burch has made a name for herself in the fashion industry and still managed to give back.
